I have covered in my previous article what is public Speaking? so before reading How to become a good public speaker? make sure you are clear about what is public Speaking?

  • So let’s start with the crucial points which you need to give attention to for achieving good public speaking skills.

1.Know your Audience

Knowing about your audience is the topmost important point in public speaking because if you know about your audience then only it will be easy for you to be interactive with them. Now here, knowing your audience doesn’t mean having each and everyone’s biodata in your hands but it means having an analyzed data about the audience like:

1. In which particular age your majority of the audience is?

2. The total number of audience?

3. In which language do most of the audience prefer to have your session?

4. what are your audience expectations from you?

In which category your audience lies in whether they are students, entrepreneurs, doing jobs, etc.

Your Speech will be about them and not for you. So knowing your audience can give you the exact format of delivering the content.

2.Create Content with Agenda

Setting the purpose of your presentation gives you the confidence of delivering it in a proper format. Some attention seeker points are:

  1. Is your data properly analyzed?
  2. Not to Brainstorm in front of the audience.
  3. Way of delivering the content.
  4. How do you evaluate your Agenda?

If you could grab the skill of public speaking then you can influence, and if you influence then you can change the lives of many people.

3.PPT Presentation

PPT presentations play a very important role because people love to watch content than only listening to it. Always keep a coherent theme for a decent presentation.

And never exceed your theoretical lines above 5 in one slide with 5words per slide.

Include some inspirational videos to make your presentation more attractive. Along with that don’t repeat the content because that can affect your reputation. Catchy contents and lines can set a benchmark for your presentation and speech. Last but not least If your presentation inspires you then you can inspire everyone.

4.Voice Tones

Monotone(Talking in single tone) is the biggest mistake one can make while giving their speech, it becomes very tedious after a particular time to even listen with this tone so never have a monotone. Always talk less and facilitate more while giving a speech.

Your Voice tones must have Pacing and Pausing. If you are trying to tell a motivational story then you should know when to pause and when to pace the story so it will be easy for the audience to imagine it and learn from the moral of the story. As voice covers 38% in communication one should focus on their tones while speaking.

5.Practise:

Last but not least Practice and Practice. Practice in front of yourself or your friends. By thinking about how to speak cannot bring perfection in you, but practice can.

Public speaking is not about Practicing on one day, it’s about practicing from day one.
